FT. COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Colorado State football coach Sonny Lubick says he is not interested in being the school's next athletic director.

Lubick, entering his 11th season at CSU, had been contemplating making a run at the post left open by the resignation of Jeff Hathaway to leave for Connecticut. But he said he has decided to stick with football.

"I just feel so good about our football team going into the season and this program in general that I have to give all of my focus to the program," Lubick said Tuesday. "I always tell the players about not having any distractions during the season, so I guess I can't have any, either."

A nine-member search committee is taking applications for the AD job until July 18.

CSU has hired consultant Chuck Neinas to aid in the search. A former commissioner of the Big Eight Conference and head of the College Football Association, Neinas has helped in a number of searches for universities across the country from his Boulder-based office.
