Los Alamitos brings a 5-2 record to Fountain Valley, as head coach John Barnes looks to get win No. 301. The Griffins top college prospect is offensive
lineman Alex Redmond (6'5/295) who is committed to Oregon. Fountain Valley
brings some size of their own into this matchup with 6'5 and 260 pound J.D.
Hinnant who has offers from a host of schools including Cal, Oregon, and Duke
and most recently visited Nebraska. Linebacker Sean Finley (6'4/220) of Fountain
Valley also has offers from Arizona and Nevada.
Prediction: Redmond has been banged up and might miss this game, but Los
Alamitos is still the better team. The Griffins should win comfortably.
Valencia (4-3) @ Canyon (5-1-1)

Valencia is making its second appearance on the Prepzone having blown out Santa
Monica in Week 4. Canyon also returns after having tide Steele Canyon 49-49 on
Prepzone (archive)
in one of craziest games we've had all season.
Valencia's top prospect is linebacker Gabe Perez (6'5/215) who is leaning
towards Boise State. Canyon's top prospect is receiver Drew Wolitarsky is
recently set the state record for receiving yards and has his sights set on
Steve Smith's record of total receptions.
Prediction: Wolitarsky has been limited this week with a nagging injury,
and he's a good enough player to make or break this game. Valencia has been
pretty consistent this year, losing to the good teams, and blowing out the bad
ones. This should be another close game with a healthy Wolitarsky making the
difference for Canyon.
San Gorgonio (6-1) @ Carter (7-0)

Carter returns to the Prepzone after a hard-fought 30-28 win last week over
rival Rialto (archive).
Carter found itself down 14-0 on the road before the even touched the ball.
Carter has the most highly recruited prospect in the game in UCLA commitment
Kenneth Clark (6'2/285). Clark looked heavier than his listed 285 and wasn't
much of a factor last week.
Prediction: Carter had a gut-check game against Rialto last week and dug
down to come back in a tough environment. They'll find the friendly confines of
home much more hospitable and will come away with the win.
Paloma Valley (6-1) @ Heritage (6-1)

While not chock full of college prospects, Paloma Valley brings a 6-1 record
to Heritage behind a balanced attack led by junior quarterback Brent Boehm
(5'11/200) who has thrown for 17 touchdowns and senior running back Davis Solis
(5'10/180). Solis has already cracked the 1000 yard mark and averages better
than 10 yards per carry.
Heritage will lean heavily on Washington State commitment Jamal Morrow (5'8/180)
at running back. Morrow has also cracked the 1000 yard mark averaging nearly 200
yards per game this season to go along with 13 touchdowns. Cal commitment Darius Allensworth (5'11/180) will also see action on both sides of a ball.
Prediction: In a battle of two balanced offenses who rely heavily on the
running attack, I'm going with the home team on this one. Heritage wins a close
game.
