Perez enjoys visit to Utah

DL Gabe Perez

Placentia (Calif.) Valencia two-way standout Gabe Perez took his first official visit this past weekend to Utah and the Orange County standout said the trip made a big impression.

Gabe Perez is a very talented athlete who has the ability to play tight end, outside linebacker or defensive end in college. He has a great frame, runs well and is a natural athlete with a big upside to him.

His visit to Utah this past weekend was not only Perez' first visit of the year, it was the first time he has ever been on an airplane.

"Yeh, that was my first time, kind of crazy huh," Perez said. "I had a great visit though, it went really well. The game atmosphere was incredible and I really enjoyed watching the team play. They're recruiting me as a hybrid defensive end/linebacker so I was watching the defense and they played really well.

"Utah always has a good front seven and I think I would fit in pretty well there. I got along great with the players on the team as well. It felt like a big family there and the guys all treated us really well. Brian Blechen was my host and he was real cool, we got along great. Overall, the trip was a lot of fun and I could definitely see my self at Utah for the next four years of my life."

Perez doesn't have any other visits lined up but said he could be close to setting one later this week. Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Nevada, and Utah State have also offered the athlete.

Greg Biggins has been covering recruiting for over 15 years, covering the West since the mid-1990's and currently serves as a national analyst for Scout.com/FOXSportsNext.
