A look at the latest news and notes from out West in this week's notebook...

Crespi Commitments

Encino (Calif.) Crespi had two players commit in the last week, and a third is set to announce on Sunday.

Outside linebacker Ray Davison got it started with a commitment to Northwestern on Friday.

Safety Brandon Arnold followed with a verbal to Oregon State on Monday.

And safety Tyler Foreman will decide on Saturday between Wisconsin, Utah, Oklahoma and UCLA.

  • Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon is the top back in the 2014 class in California.  Over the weekend, he picked up three Pac-12 offers on the same day.  Washington, Cal and Colorado all offered Mixon.  Oregon State had previously offered him.


    Tyler Ferguson- QB - College of Sequoias (Calif.) 
    Probably the top quarterback in 2012 not to sign with anyone, Ferguson has made the most of his one year at COS, and had an early offer from Akron that this week was joined by Florida Atlantic and Houston. He's a full-qualifier who can sign in December.


  • Concord (Calif.) De La Salle linebacker Victor Egu committed to California.
  • Spokane (Wash.) Mead defensive end Langston Ward committed to Harvard.
  • Santa Maria (Calif.) Allan Hancock running back Cameron Artis-Payne verballed to Auburn.

  • Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker Dwight Williams got a new offer from Arizona State
  • Encino (Calif.) Crespi receiver Jabrian Blackwell was offered by Sacramento State and Montana State
  • Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey athlete Delvon Hardaway was offered by Colorado State.
  • Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey athlete Billy Vaughn was offered by Nevada.
