Does SDSU lead for Montgomery?

DB Kalan Montgomery

Compton (Calif.) Dominguez defensive back Kalan Montgomery hasn't set up any of his official visits yet but is very close to doing so.

Kalan Montgomery is one of the most versatile defensive backs in the state and could play corner or safety at the next level. He has played mostly corner this past season and has the size and toughness a lot of schools are looking for in a big cover man.

"I haven't set up any of my trips yet but I'm still talking to about four of five schools," Montgomery said. "San Diego State, Nevada, Boise State, Arizona, Colorado State and UCLA have all been in contact and I have interest in all of them right now.

"I'm still trying to figure out where I want to take my visits but I'm getting close to setting some. I still have the same offers, San Diego State, Hawaii and Arizona so my visits will likely be to those schools."

Although Montgomery wouldn't name a leader, the Aztecs appear to be the team to beat.

"San Diego State is definitely recruiting me the hardest right now," Montgomery said. "I took a visit there in the summer and really liked it. They have a great campus and it's a fun city as well. I want to take my trips and then I think I'll be ready to make my decision."
