Fort Collins, COLO. -- The Colorado State women’s basketball team fell in the first round of the WNIT to the Creighton Bluejays 79-68 in Moby Arena this evening. The Rams end their season at 17-12, while Creighton improves to 20-9 and awaits the winner of the Washington - Pepperdine contest.

Colorado State had four players in double figures in scoring, including a career-high 14 points off the bench for freshman forward Kylee O’Dwyer. Senior guard Jasai Ferrucho led the team with 16 points, while sophomore center Lindsay Thomas added 15 and sophomore guard Vanessa Espinoza chipped in 11.

Thomas also led all players with eight rebounds, including five on the offensive end of the floor. Ferrucho led the team with six assists and for the first time since her freshman season she hit two three-pointers in a game, but had seven turnovers. Espinoza led all players with three steals.

“I think we didn’t play good tonight,” said Head Coach Chris Denker. “And we were beaten by a better team. They (Creighton) killed us on the boards until the very end of the game and we had a lot of careless turnovers. Creighton played very hard and I have to give them a lot of credit.”

The Bluejays had five players hit double figures in scoring, led by senior Chris Neneman with 16. Dayna Finch scored 14, while Laura Spanheimer and Codi Walker both scored 12 and Angie Janis chipped in 10.

Finch also had eight assists with no turnovers in 32 minutes of play and Spanheimer led the team with seven rebounds.

Two seniors played in their final games for CSU tonight. Joy Jenkins ended the night with six points and two rebounds, and ends her career ranked 18th in career scoring with 837 points. Ferrucho ends her career ranked sixth in assists with 347 and 10th in steals with 157.
