Posted Apr 2, 2005

Colorado State University men's basketball players Phillip Thomasson and Stephen Verwers have been granted full releases from their scholarships and both will transfer at the end of the spring semester, head coach Dale Layer said today.

Both are sophomores who competed for the Rams in 2004-05. Verwers is from Weatherford, Tex., and played in 28 games, nine as a starter, averaging 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Thomasson played in 21 games, starting eight times, and averaged 2.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

"Phillip and Stephen both felt that would like to pursue an opportunity for more playing time at a different institution," said Layer. "We have granted them both full releases, and wish them the best of luck in their careers in the future."
