Pauly has a double-major in Business Administration and Computer
Informations. He has a 3.78 grade point average, and was named to the
second team in 2001. Pauly will earn his undergraduate degree in May of
2003, then enroll in graduate school at Colorado State while he
completes his playing career for the Rams.
Wood has a 3.63 grade point average and is majoring in Psychology. "Eric
and Drew are not only very good football players, but most importantly,
they are great students," said Rams' coach Sonny Lubick.
"They are the epitome of what a student-athlete and leader should be all
about. I cannot be prouder of the fact that two of our student-athletes
have been named to the Academic All-American team. I believe it is a
tribute to both of these two individuals and to the types of
student-athletes that we have in our program."
Pauly led the Rams in tackles for a second straight season. He currently
has 109 tackles heading into the Dec. 31 AXA Liberty Bowl against TCU,
and ranks among the Mountain West Conference leaders in total tackles
and tackles for loss. He is also tied for third in the
league with three fumble recoveries.
Wood is third on the team with 101 tackles, among the top figures in the
MWC, and leads the Rams with 12 tackles for loss and seven quarterback
sacks. Wood ranks among the league leaders in both of the latter
categories, respectively.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or top reserve with
at least a 3.2 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for his career.
Colorado State is one of eight institutions nationally to place more
than one student-athlete on the first and second teams, respectively.
