| Women's basketball falls at Michigan | ||||

Ann Arbor, MICH. -- Colorado State women’s basketball moves to 5-3 on the season after an 83-72 loss at the University of Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines improve to 8-1 win the victory. | ||||

The Rams had a one-point lead at halftime, 40-39, but were unable to hang on for the win after Michigan shot 59.3 percent from the field in the second half. Freshman Lindsay Thomas, getting her first career start, exploded for 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting all in just 16 minutes of play. The center from Sioux Falls, South Dakota had scored 16 points in the first seven games for the Rams. Senior forward Ashley Augspurger added 14 points, while senior guard Elizabeth English scored 12 off four three-pointers and junior forward Joy Jenkins added 10. Senior forward Lisa Narkiewicz also chipped in a season-high eight rebounds to lead the squad and Augspurger tallied a game-high five assists. Michigan was led by Tabitha Pool with 24 points while LeeAnn Bies added 21, Stephanie Gandy scored 14 and Sierra Hauser-Price chipped in 13 points. Pool also led the team with 10 rebounds and hit the only four-pointers of the game for the Wolverines. Colorado State will drive to South Bend, Indiana Saturday and face Notre Dame on Monday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (Eastern), Noon Mountain. |
